We treat any articular and non-articular fractures whether there was or wasn’t a surgery
Fractures of the temporomandibular joints: the treatment can be “functional” when there is no surgery but only physiotherapy. There are no “manipulations” done by the maxillofacial physiotherapist. The goals are to recover but the joints movements through specific and gentle exercises. The amplitudes must be harmonious, symmetrical, the mouth opening must be centered
Mandibular or maxillary fractures repaired by surgery (osteosynthesis). With the surgeon agreement, it is possible to see a patient by 1-2 weeks after surgery. The goals are to recover amplitude limitations and reduce swelling. When swelling is going done, nerves and healing recovery is better and there is less risk of complications related to swelling.
